The Eyes of Anansi envision colorful people with fresh ideas elevating the experience and relevance of square dancing and international square dance culture.

We emphasize two ideas:

Black people are at the center of square dance history and its future.

Black, Indigenous, and People of Color with our allies are bringing enthusiasm and creativity to renew the music, choreography, fashion, and experience of square dancing.

Square dancing is a multidimensional STEAM education platform.

Through dance, we learn the heritage algorithms of square dance choreography. We creatively apply our knowledge of the deep structure of these dance figures to access and create the symmetries of design in emerging art forms, sciences, mathematics, and technologies.
